Aromatherapy

Rene Gattefosse a French chemist, burnt his hand in his laboratory in 1910, he stuck his hand in a vat of lavender oil and noticed that the burn healed quickly with little scarring. This encouraged him to study the therapeutic actions of essential oils. The term aromatherapy is to describe the healing effects of scented oils.

What is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils extracted from flowers, herbs and resins.  It is a complementary treatment designed to treat the whole person. Using a synergy of essential oils can help bring balance and a sense of well-being. Essential oils are absorbed through the skin, and also by inhaling. Therapeutic properties from the essential oils enter the bloodstream and can soothe inflammation and act as an antiseptic, reduce pain and stimulate the digestion system. These results are obtained by using small amounts of essential oil as they are highly concentrated.

The aromatherapist takes into account a clients medical history, emotional condition, general state of health and lifestyle so that a personalise treatment plan can be prescribed to suit clients individual needs.
