Indian head massage is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. The word Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words Ayur meaning life, and Veda meaning knowledge. Both a stimulating and relaxing treatment, Indian Head Massage concentrates on the face, scalp, shoulders, upper back and upper arms. Originally developed by women who used different oils according to the season:- coconut, sesame, almond, olive oil, herbal oils, mustard oil to keep their long hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. Head Massage is part of family life and Indian children often receive a daily massage. This treatment is passed down through the family and children as young as six years of age, are taught to share a massage with family members. Indian Champissage comes from this rich tradition of family grooming.
